First visit Pico do Areeiro, which is the highest mountain of Madeira, at 1810 meters above sea level. On the way down to Santana there is a stop at Ribeiro Frio to the trout hatchery surrounded by a beautiful garden, rare trees and endemic plants of the island. In Santana you will have the opportunity to see the typical houses of that region. On your way to Funchal visit Porto da Cruz and stop at Portela, from where one of the most beautiful views can be seen. Follow Machico and finally Camacha village, home to the famous wickerwork center.
